My sister has a short hair, small dog who has scratched his poor belly red and she couldn't get an appointment with the vet for four more days. Wondering if anyone has anything to help 'Hunter' until then. Thanks in advance!

Dont listen to all the STUPID people that say Garlic or Brewers yeast etc. The only thing that works is FRONTLINE PLUS, or Advantage. Both must be bought at a Vet clinic but you should not need an appointment just to buy it (as long as the vet has seen the dog in the past). Bathing just washes off adult fleas, not the eggs etc. Buy Frontline Plus and apply it once a month every month!

Try giving Hunter some Benadryl. For a small breed use the childrens Benadryl. Twice a day should do the trick. He'll be sleepy but it should stop itching til he gets to the vet. Once at the vet just get him on a flea and tick prevenative. Frontline is my recommendation.

The best thing I found for flea allergies is Advantage for fleas. Not Frontline or any of the others just Advantage, something in it, helps with allergies more than other flea products. She can also give him 1 Benadryl for allergies. Bathe him in a soap free shampoo.

I work at a pet store and we had an older chihuahua that was there that had horrible flea allergies. My co-worker told me to put MTG (mane, tail, groom, a horse and dog medicine) on it once daily and in a week the hair had started growing back. You can get it at feed stores. You do also need to do a flea preventative though and some people said that you Have to get it from the vet but you dont.
