What do you all you all think? I don't know whats going on with my kitten. He is fine other than that. His brother (7weeks too) doesn't seem to be doing it. They are both very active and play for at least 7 hours a day. I have 2 dogs too, a Cockerspaniel and a Husky. My only thoughts are that its the Dogs hair, or the cat litter "dust". Please vet students, or knowlageable pet owners respond.

Does he sound chesty when he's purring? If so then a course of antibiotics might be in order. You didn't mention how long you've had the kitten, if this is a new thing i.e the past few days, then it might just be a bit of a cold or a chill, if he's had this problem since you got him then take him to the vet, he should have his first check-up as soon as possible anyway.

It's most likely allergies. I have a cat that licks off her fur. Our vet told us that it's allergies and gave her a shot.

If you adopted him from a kennel or humane society they ALWAYS catch "kennel cold". It's not very serious they will usually get over it in a couple weeks. If he doesn't seem any better after that you may want to consider bringing him in. Since his "brother" doesn't seem to have it you might want to keep them seperated...."kennel cold" is extremely contagious! When one of my cats came home with it the others had it within a day!

He might have a cold, a respiratory infection or it can be allergies. See your vet to be sure, he's about due for his first vaccination anyway.

There's a slim chance it might be distemper. I'd take the kittenv to the vet.

Have the Vet ck him out. Lots of good answers above. But, in the meantime.....do you use carpet fresheners? I found that the powder kind would always make my animals sneeze.

that sounds like an upper respiratory infection. cats can get these from other cats, and also just from stress. Take your kitten to the vet and have him treated (usually antibiotics). Although the brother-cat isn't doing it now, upper respiratory infections are highly contagious in cats - so the sooner you get your sick one treated, the better off both of them will be. It might be a week or ten days until you notice the brother cat sneezing. Your suspicion about the cat litter dust might be a problem if the kitten is sneezing lots after he uses the catbox. Probably not the dogs hair- you're describing like an allergic reaction, and cat allergies usually manifest in other ways, like digestive problems or losing their hair or constant licking on one part of their body. hope this helps. the upper respiratory infections are pretty common in cats, so your vet will know what to do right away.

It could be allergies. I would keep on eye on them. It also could be an upper respiratory infection. If they start to cough, running nose, and ishy eyes get them into the vet. Cats can sometimes get over it, but a lot of times it could turn serious and cause death. I ran into that problem with mine. They put her on an antibiotic and she's doing great.

He needs to go to the vet it sounds like an upper respiratory infection. Are his eyes running? Sounds like they need an antibiotic to clear this up.

My sisters roommate's kitten had this as well when she brought him home from the SPCA, it was kennel cough, take it to your vet and see if this is what it is, there is medication to help with it, as well as shots to prevent it.
