I am wondering if anybody knows wether PomPom dogs are hypoallegenic.?

My son is allergic to dogs with hair, but seems fine around dogs with a pelt. We are interested in getting a PomPom and do not know if is a good dog for him to be living with?

It would be hard to tell. Each person is different. A "hypoallergenic" dog (or anything for that matter) is one that is "less likely to cause and allergic reaction" not one that is "non-allergenic".

The best thing, if not the only thing, to do is to have your son meet the parents of the puppy that you plan to get. The reason for meeting the parents is that puppies themselves are all pretty much hypoallergenic up to about 6 - 9 months, when they get their adult coats. So, you may get a puppy that doesn't bother your son, but it grows into a dog that does.

I believe that the AKC has a list on their site of the dogs less likely to cause allergic reactions. You might want to check there. www.akc.org

There is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog. Simply becaue the orign of the allergy is not always in the hair. It can be salvia, dander %26amp; bugs. I'm living proof of that. I'm allergic to poodles, bichons, maltese %26amp; cockers. With the curly breeds its the soft hair that makes me sneeze. I'm a dog groomer so I see MANY of these breeds a week, and I discovered they were my source of sneezing, I would be totally fine around other beeds except these ones. If its course hairs that make your son sneeze then maybe a curly dog is your best bet. Because they don't shed the same way straight coat breeds do. Poms are most defiantly not good for allergies. I do tons of pom shave downs because owners simply can't deal with the hair or allergies. I want to kill them all for doing that because they look terrible %26amp; the hair never grows back in. Good luck

First dogs do not have pelts. Second if your referring to Pomeranian than yes they will make your sons allergies go nuts.

There are very few dogs that do not shed a lot. All dogs will shed some. Look at Poodles, Shihtzu's, Schnauzer's.

Sorry, but they are not hypoallergenic. They are shedders, and some people are extremely allergic to them. My brother was allergic to my Pom, and said it felt just like his allergy to cats.

What is a PomPom? No such dog. There are Pomeranians, however.

they are not... but i have two bichon frise's and they are hypoallegenic.

a bichon frise is a good choice for someone who has allergies to dogs.

Sorry there is no such this as a hypoallegenic dog. all dogs have dander even if they dont shed the dander still gets into the air.
