I have 2 papillons, just got them recently and they are shedding like mad. I could never stand an animal in the house so I'm still trying to cope and get used to this. Dog hair is everywhere, EVERYWHERE I TELL YOU. Please give me some advise on ways to minimize this, its driving me NUTS!

For starters brush them regularly...once a day at least maybe more to cut down further...they also make specialized dog brushes made for shedding like the shed-ender and another one by Furminator...they also make doggie treats and shampoos made especially to minimize shedding...go and shop around i think you'll be surprised at what you'll find..also make sure they are on a good-quality food...as that also helps

oh and do you own a vacuum? You'll need it!...and also those little lint rollers help a LOT with fur on clothing and furniture!

I would not recommend shaving them, they will still shed, just smaller more irritating hairs.

I have a golden retriever who sheds ALL the time. I brush her about every other day...I've gotten her shaved 2X in the summers, but I don't think I'll do it again. Hi, I was amazed also at the shedding, I'd always had poodles. But I'm crazy in love with the Papillons. Frequent vacumn them, deshedding everytime you brush and I use allergy wipes after the brushing. At first you may need to brush daily, then in time maybe down to once a week. Also a shed control shampoo helps. I just got that furminator, it works so much better than the other deshedding comb. Good luck.
