It could be mites or ringworm or a thousand other things. I had a cat with allergies and it required a shot from the vet. She did much better after that. Get a proper diagnosis. You have to find out what is causing the problem, not just treat the symptom you see.

i used benadryl on my Labrador, but since its young and small, i would see a vet asap.

Get some basic dog cream and call a vet and maybe go to a vet... It may be serious!

Can you say vet???.................

HELP!!! how to treat dog allergies?

Take your dog to the vet right away...what you are describing sounds a lot like an infection called mange and it's serious, it can spread to other animals and it weakens their body. If left untreated they can get secondary infections and become very very ill and in rare cases die.

HELP!!! how to treat dog allergies?

It sounds like a parasite, more than likely worms. I would go to your local pet supply (or a tsc if you have one) and get a wormer - the cheaper wormers handle only one type of worm, if you pay a couple of extra dollars, it will say on the label "roundworms and hookworms" and that will broaden your chances of getting the culprit. If you don't see worms in the feces the next day, or you don't notice a difference in the next couple of days -take him to the vet. You didn't note that he was "acting sickly" if that is the case as well as the hair loss - yes, of course, take him in!!!

It could be a food or environmental allergy. Have a vet check him to rule out mites or mange. All of these problems are pretty easily treated.
