What do you think about Kirby vaccums?

I dont have allot of money but Im tired of buying the 50 dollar Kmart specials that dont work with dog hair.

Is 200 to much to pay for a G3 or G4 upright Kirby on ebay, some are reconditioned as new. Do I need to spend more? Ive scene the Rainbows but I hate the smell.

200 is allot to me so I dont want to get burned esp. on a vaccum cleaner.

I had one. they are no better than any other vaccuum, they stop working correctly just like all the cheapies. I woudlnt buy another. Id rather buy a new cheap one every few years, then waste that much money on a new one, I payed 1,700. and the sales ppl are so pushy and they will not leave the house. Better to buy it online if you want one, yes.

$200 is very cheap for a Kirby.

We have a Kirby, which we bought new for $800 (long story how we talked him down from $1400). ANYHOO, I don't think the Kirby is any better/worse than any other vacuum that we have ever had. It is HEAVY!!!! It has to weigh at least 20 pounds. Lug THAT up and down stairs or try to sweep dog hair off the couch with it! Ugh!

And the belts and bags are expen$ive! You can't get them at your neighborhood store. You have to get original Kirby bags from a real Kirby place, and they are a lot higher than other bags.

If this thing ever dies (my husband actually had to fix it once already), I am getting a Dyson.

Buy it - cheap price -- the best vac I have is the one that I spent more money on.

We bought a Kirby about 1 %26amp; 1/2 years ago. It was originally about $1500 and we talked him down to $950. We received the shampoo system along with a starter kit of bags and shampoos, stain repelent and pet stain remover. I love my Kirby. It is heavy but there is a neutral and drive position. Once you place it in drive, it basically does all the work for you, you just guide it in the direction you want. As for lugging it up %26amp; down stairs, it is detachable so that you only have to take a small piece to the stair case it self and then you can bring it up in a couple of pieces if its too heavy for you. I am 8 months pregnant and still lift it just fine. Its a breeze when it comes to carpet shampooing as well. The only difference about shampooing in my experience, it tells you to use three cups full of shampoo liquid, I only recommend one cup full b/c it suds up a lot. Other than that, I love it. I would buy it all over again if I had to go back. Oh and I have 2 large dogs, (German Sheppards) who are spoiled rotten and stay inside all the time. It helps with the pet hair wonderfully! Good luck on your decision. I think its a terrific investment and once you want to upgrade to the newest brand, you can do a trade in and get some money toward your new one. If you buy new, it comes with a warranty!

not worth the price, as you can get a heppa vac at walmart...even check online....much much cheaper!
