What is the best fabric for a sofa if I have pets?

Microfiber, chenille, microsuede, cotton twill? Something that dog hair doesn't stick to.

Plastic! or leather

Leather if the pet has a urinary problem

Furniture made from plastic laminates is highly pet resistant.

but leather is not good with kids

I don't know about any of those but I have leather furniture and I think that it is great when you have dogs.

I have two indoor bordercollies (they shead a lot). I have leather furniture. Just keep it treated and it will last a lifetime.

teflon? Non-stick!

Leather.

We have a kind of tweed on one sofa and the dog hair sticks into it, like little needles. I can't even get rid of it by vacuuming with a rotating brush attachment or by using tape. I finally found this rubber bristled brush, but it takes forever and still doesn't get all the hair out.

I would assume any kind of fabric would hold dog hair to some extent. Especially our dogs (shorthairs). Microfiber might be okay for longer haired dogs. But, you would propably have to vacuum it off all the time.

On our leather sofa and chairs, though, the dog hair just falls through the cracks and down to the floor. I've never had to clean dog hair off of these pieces in the year that we've had them.

I think that microfiber is best because it's durable and easy to clean. Pet hair is going to stick no matter what fabric you have...just happens. But, using static guard helps the hair not to stick as much on your stuff and you can also occassionally use a big lint roller (they sell them at Target and other places) as well. Good luck.
