We are having a baby and our lab really sheds. Help?

The dog hair is horrible and I do not want our baby covered in it. Please give me any suggestions on how to control the hair. Thanks!

bathe your dog more often with shed control shampoo. brush your dog at least once a week. an under coat brush really does the rtick, something like this: http://www.boomergadgets.com/servlet/the...

also run the vacuum once a day. it's a lot of work but if you mind the hair so much it will be worth it. however, a little dog hair won't hurt a baby.

take your dog to the ver immediately and ask for some hairfall medicine if you mind the hair sooo bad.that is one disadvantage of having a dog!

You could train your dog to only enter specific rooms, leaving the others off limits and hair free.

Get a brush attachment for your vacuum and groom it every day or two.

Good Luck!

theres this stuff called shed stop it is available at walmart. you rub it on the dogs coat with a cloth ( i use papertowel myself) and then brush the dog everyday. i have a newfoundlander and a russian wolfhound terrier mix and i have been using the stuff everyday for a week and i have noticed the difference. or get a shedding comb and brush the crap out of your dog and then vaccuum. congrats on the baby!!

congratulations on your baby. I had a lab once and even found his hair in my ice trays. Yuk! I think vacuuming him might help, if he lets you, but shedding is a lab thing and it might be unpreventable. Good luck!

Take him to the groomer and have him shaved. We do it twice a year and it really cuts down on the hair.

well you have the good advice aready but I will add in some pet hair may actually be GOOD for the baby. Childen exposed to pets in their first year of life are significantly less likely to have allergies later. www.paws.org/cas/resources/fact_sheets_g... - 17k -

Buy this grooming tool, brush out your Labrador for one half hour once a week, and the difference will be amazing! It works great on breeds with coats such as yours, and digs out all of the dead under-coat on your dog, so he sheds a whole lot less. It is not like any other brush, it is a groomer's tool.

It may be a bit pricey, but it will save you a lot of headaches!
