I have a baby crib issue.. well i dont have a crib.. thats the issue!?

so we're staying at my mothers for awhile. Me and the farther of my 4 month old are having problems, so if we don't work out, i need to think of solutions now.

I have a nice crib for him and it's at the farthers' house. So when baby goes to spend night, i'd rather have him sleep there, everywhere else is dog hair and cat pee... lol

Were going to get a pack-n-play, but i would really like him to associate that with play.. and the bassinet that it comes with, i don't think will hold him. He already weighs 20 lbs and is 27 in long...

So what are there other sleeping solutions for my 4 month old? Links would be great..

nothing too expensvie either =]

I would say that the pack n play is a good idea. You can get some that aren't too expensive (my mom got one for her house and it cost $35.00 at Wal Mart). Can you afford to get two? One for play, maybe in the living area, and one for sleep in the room the baby sleeps in. Most kids only like to stay in a pack n play for a little while to actually play. My daughter was okay with it until she started crawling, then she would scream to get out. They really hate to be confined. So you may find that the Pack n Play only lasts a short time as a play area. Best of luck to you!

a quick fix is a laundry basket, if the baby fits, with a blanket for padding. it always worked for my family in a sticky situation. they are cheep too and come in different sizes.

Search www.craigslist.com in your local State/Municipality. People are always selling used cribs for less than $50. Or go to a local Salvation Army or thrift store to see if they have any cribs for sale. Both these options require one thing- a little elbow grease to thoroughly clean the items.

Also, check out www.walmart.com. They have inexpensive moses baskets and cribs!

Even the least expensive cribs have to meet federal guidelines. Check out the ikea website.

However, the pack and play works just as well. What you could do is get a sleep sack of two for napping and sleeping. Then when babys in the pack and play, this sack is associated with sleeping. Plus these are recommended for SIDs prevention vs blankets.

You could still use the pack n play just take the bassinet part out. Good Luck!

the pack -n- play is great. we use the graco pack-n-play for our oldest because she wouldn't sleep in her room. during the day we used it as a play pen and at night we pulled it to our room and put the top for the bassinet on it and covered it with a sheet so the play pen wasn't visible and she slept there until she was about 6 months old.

Since you're not sure if you will be in this situation for a long time or not, I would suggest a mini crib. I have the delta mini crib (got it from walmart's website) and it was under $100. It's great because it also folds up for storage, and walmart has a great policy where you can pretty much return anything, even without a receipt. Just be sure to keep the box somewhere. You might also consider buying a thicker mini crib mattress for it because the one that comes with it is flimsy.

When we go out of town, we always use the playpen. Fold a blanket up for padding (cover it with a sheet that folds under the "mattress" so that he can't sufficate). That seems to work just fine, that's what the sitters use for him to nap as well. There's nothing wrong with baby assocating play pen with sleep, especially if it's tired.
