Can't seem to get rid of the dust. What else can I do?

I vacuum daily. I dust all the time using damp cloth, swiffers..... The filter on the furnace is changed frequently. I even have filters on some of the intake vents. We don't have windows open. We run a cool fan humidifier, not the kind of humidifier that is creates that white dust. So I don't know where it's coming from. Yes, I have a dog. He's brushed regularly and I vacuum to get rid of the dog hair. There are only three people in this house. I don't have alot of "stuff" to collect dust. And we don't have alot of people over to create more dust.

What else can I do to cut down on the dust??

If you have any furniture that is covered in Fabric, carpet or live in your house, you'll get at the very least some residual dust. I live in a new house, we just changed the air filters to the 3M Filtrete type, we pledge, dust, vacuum with one that has a HEPA filter and we have 2 of Sharper Image Ionic Breeze GPs. We still have some dust showing up. Not alot, but according to my wife we have tons. The Ionic Breeze really picks up alot of the dust and junk in the air, also I know for a fact that the 3M filters help out alot, but since the house has wall to wall carpeting, our sofas are cloth, we still have some dust. Which is no big deal.

Now I was in the Marines and the subject of many white glove inspections. To only way you can minimize dust in a place you actually live in are to use pledge on all wooden surfaces and baby oil on any other hard surfaces, more specifically tile surfaces. Also, vacuum first, then dust. No matter what you do, you'll still get some dust on surfaces, just be sure to do it once a week.

Use Pledge or some kind of furniture polish it will help to deflect dust get rid of every rug in your house they collect dust.

Get one of the really good furnace filters. I think 3M makes them. I would get a new vaccume that has a canister that you can empty out when you are done so you can see how much stuff you are actually vaccumming up. I hear dysons are really good. I live in the southwest where dust is a fact of life!! I have everyone take their shoes off at the door and that seems to help for some reason. All I can say is dont worry to much about it!! After all we all end up as dust!

Stop vacuuming daily unless your vacuum cleaner has an excellent Hepa filter [and most do not..no matter what the ads say]
