My akita has started losing fur off of his back , can anyone tell me what I can do or which shampoo I could bathe him with to stop the hair-losing process before it worsens?
I have an akita/wolf dog, very good dog but these breeds are prone to mange.?
dogs lose hair when they are wounded. you should see if he is hurt or has allergys. he could also just be losing hair with age. go see a vet to make sure he doesnt have any infections.

You sprayed your dog with raid, as in bug killer? If that's what you seriously mean, you're lucky missing fur is the only problem the poor dog had. Report It

Consider switching your dog to a raw diet. www.barfworld.com has some great information, and get a copy of "Give Your Dog A Bone," a book by Ian Billinghurst, a vet from Australia.
Your dogs problem(s) aren't from shampoo, they are from a poor diet.

No shampoo in the world will adequately treat mange. Yes, I know some claim to, but they are a total waste of money. See a vet ASAP for a prescription treatment.
Another reason you need to see a vet is that there are 2 types of mange. The more common one (Demodex) is carried by ALL dogs, but does not cause itching and hair loss unless the dog is especially stressed out or has another illness- a mange outbreak could be a symptom of a different illness you didn't even know was there. The less common type (Sarcoptes) is a mite humans and dogs can spread to each other, so you need the vet to make sure it is not Sarcoptes, or you might get it too!
Other reasons a dog could lose fur, other than mange, are hotspots, allergies, fleas, fungal skin infections, or bacterial skin infections. Using a mange treatment if any of these is the problem will actually make the skin worse.
Please see a vet ASAP so you know what you're dealing with, instead of trying the over-the-counter stuff!

Is he losing coat to the skin? Bare patches, skin discolorarion, scabs? If so it could be mange or some sort of allergy. If he is just losing a ton of undercoat it could just be seasonal shedding. Both Akitas and Wolves can lose an unbelieveable amount of coat when the weather turns warm. If he isn't driving himself crazy scratching get a coat rake and a sheeding blade and pull out the dead undercoat. If is is scratching himself to death, go to the vet.
