I want to know approximatley when, cause i cant wait to start putting it in ponytails.and also how do i train her to be like those dogs in the shih tzu dog shows? She is very hyper,

my shih tzu 1-1/2 i been putting her hair up since about 7 months. i would say and she still can grow it longer the way i want it. there is some hair styles on the Internet this Chinese guy makes. some nice ones as far as hyper mine is very mellow so i would recommend training. i will also mention i use pet silk top knot gel to keep the ends in(sometimes) depending how long her hair will be up.

sorry but every dog is different that's why people shouldn't stereotype dogs for just that reason i have to disagree all puppies are hyper i have had my dog since she was 3 1/2 months old and she was NEVER hyper sorry but you are wrong when judging the dog i own. she just was always relaxed and has a no big deal attitude. lol and she is very obedient.

she is a puppy she should be hyper. it could take a year or longer to get the long coat and if you want to keep her in a natural coat it will take alot of work on your side. go to American Shih Tzu Club. click on grooming and it will tell you everything you want to know about coat and the top knot.
