Like you tip your hair stylist? If so, what's the standard amount? Do you tip if the groomer owns the business?

I don't take my dogs to a groomer - but after having worked with someone who groomed on the side and bathing a few dogs for her in a pinch - I definetly would if I was satisfied with their work. Grooming is alot more difficult than you may think. Especially if the owner doesn't upkeep the coat or the dog isn't well behaved.

I doubt there's a standard amount - it doesn't even have to be money, as Jennifer T pointed out. Just a little something to show you appreciate what they're doing.

You can't really compare it to a human going to a hairstylist. You sit still. You don't try to bite, scratch, snarl or bark at your hairstylist. You do not urinate or have a bowel movement wile they're trying to do your hair. You don't try to jump out of the chair or fight when they try to wash your hair. There are groomers that have to deal with this for some dogs.

I never tip the dog groomer. Maybe I am a bit selfish, but I figure I'm paying $60 for a dog shampoo and haircut. That's for only a couple of hours of work! They are making plenty enough money off of me!

Some people do, some people don't. It is not expected that you tip, like it is in a restaurant, but if you really like your dog's cut. than they accept tips and are usually very grateful. I give a 5 dollar tip if I really like my dogs cut, but that is for a full service trim. I would still tip if the groomer owned the place, she would still appreciated it and did as much work as she would have had she not owned the place.

Tips are really designed to reward satisfactory or excellent work. If you groomer is the greatest, feel free to tip generously. If your groomer is not so good...don't, then find a better groomer. Many of my customers give me neat things like "Best Groomer" certificates for my walls and pics of their dogs on vacation or in Christmas photos. Trust me, any token of appreciation is cherished.

If it's your friend's dog they should know if the shots are up to date. If your worried though, tell your friend to take you to the dr. and they should pay for the shots.

Ask your friend if the dog has had it's shots and ask to see the rabies vaccine papers. If he can't or won't show them to you, call your local animal control officer. The officer will sort things out for you.

If the dogs shots are up to date- you're fine- if not you should make sure the dog hasn't been in a fight with any other animals recently(if it has, get checked out by a doctor ASAP)- thinning hair near the tail is usually just a sign of flea allergy, it has nothing to do with rabies. Chances are since you didn't bleed, you wouldn't contract anything at all from the bite-relax and keep an eye on the dog for the next 10 days- if it has rabies you will be well aware of it by then.

The odds of the dog having rabies are very very low. Its almost gone in this country. If it didn't bleed you don't need to worry about it. Just put on a bit of anti-bacterial cream. If you do go to the doc for it they will want to take the dog for "observation" for a min of 5 days in which she will be treated like a prisoner in a tiny cage and no love and attention. if the dog is aggressive than it is your friend's fault and she needs to be put in the cage for not training her dog.

Niece 3 & nephew 1 are being abused & very neglected by their Mother who is very crazy viole

I am tortured by these childrens life! They are left locked in their bedrooms from 9pm at night until 3pm the next day. They are left in a diaper for 18 hours with no food or drink. They live in FILTH I saw the baby in the same clothes for days with snot encrusted down his face matted with dog hair. They are screamed at %26amp; cussed horribly. It kills me watching this!! Their Dad (my husbands brother) works %26amp; Mom sleeps the entire day %26amp; stays up all night to sneak out of house. I am afraid of this woman for my own children's sake she has tried to kill her husband %26amp; hurt numerous others un-provoked. She is insane I don't know how to notify authurities without being found out. I know details that would need to be told that only someone close could. This woman has talked freely about murder %26amp; would kill my husband,me %26amp; my children. These poor sweet babies need help %26amp; I don't know how!!

Call the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline in your state. Every state has a 24 hour line, the number can be found in the blue pages of the phone book

Time to step up to the plate. First off - start a journal. Record actual facts, but be careful not to exagerrate. Journals are great legal documents, but must be above reproach in its facts.

Start recording everything you see and do. Talk to your husband and discuss how far you are willing to go. I would submit that if your niece and nephew is in danger, than it is better to sever all ties with brother and wife than it is to allow the kids to suffer.

Finally - talk to social services. You are these kids ONLY help and its time to take a stand. Talk to the police if you are scared. Get a restraining order. Move far away if that's the answer. But DO NOT let these kids be abused.

contact your local child protection agency,welfare office you can make the report without giving your name just say that your a neighbor or something and that youve noticed the kids running around dirty and that you hear her scream at them all the time you dont have to go into great detail just that little bit will get them investigating

Girl, I'm totally with you on this. I hate what is happening in the world. Here's what you can do:

1) Call the police, and tell them what's going on. You need to do this.

2) Also, call 1-800-4ACHILD the national child abuse hotline. Note that kids can also call this hotline.

3) Don't say anything to your sister. She will kill.

4) DO THIS BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. DO IT NOW, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT OR WHATEVER, BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO DO IT NOW!

5) Hope this works! I am just a scared little kid that wants to help the other kids who are being abused. It's too bad that they are not old enough to run away from home. You can also try to snatch them from your sister. Please do this before she hurts them more. Now, I know you might love your sister, but this is the right thing to do. Please, Call 1-800-4ACHILD.

Wouldn't you rather these poor kids be saved from the horrible environment that they are living in? TAKE ACTION!! Don't wait until one of these children dies, because of this abuse. If you are afraid for your family then call the police, tell them what a threat she is to her children and to anyone that tries to help. Their Dad, does NOT have an excuse. I feel bad for my shihtzu dog. HELP!?

our shihtzu's almost 1 year old and his hair is kinda long and messy, soo my sister went to a groomer to do our shihtzu. what happened is they shaved him all up and now he ended up looking like a hotdog. hes really upset with his new do and now hes hiding under our bed. im also worried because he has this rashes and his peniss is kinda swollen too. what can i do?
