Do you shave the hair off....?

before you take your poodle to the dog show?

Do you shave the hair off....?

noooo....I prefer the well trimmed curly look for my poodle...

Do you shave the hair off....?

now I just bet you would....lol Report It

Do you shave the hair off....?

No, but the bastard shaved mine

Do you shave the hair off....?

Neatly trimmed is always best when showing.

Do you shave the hair off....?

Yes, I think that is always a good idea!

Do you shave the hair off....?

Poodles taste like chicken.

Do you shave the hair off....?

Nah, I leave it there for other people to do it!

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

Our Ausralian Cattle Dog/ Jack Russell is biting her fur off her belly and back legs. She has a mild case of fleas and is being treated but I dont think thats the reason. Whats wrong?

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

Another major reason in animals for chewing hair out is because of stress. Is there any other great changes at home,or other animals, or anything else?

Things can build up. Think of people that don't realize until they're really stress, that they don't like the situation they are in. It's not your fault, you just have to see if you can eliminate what stresses her.

It may be that it's just the mental stress cause by the physical stress of the flees.(In plain english: flees are stressing her out) It can be stressful for the dog if flees been hard to treat, and this has been going on for couple days.

There is a reason they say "She can't take it any more, she will pull all her hair out."

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

omg!take her to the vet!aww poor thing!

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

yes it is probley the fleas that are making her skin itch so she chews the skin. To make the itch stop but it just makes if worse just like are scrahing a bug bite.

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

Go buy some vitamin c supplements that's what we did with my puppy he's 4 it helps but if its severe then consulate a vet it may be sick

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

She is probly allergic to fleas. Go to a pet supply store and buy medicated oatmeal shampoo. It is very soothing.

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

It is the fleas that are causing her to bite her skin. You need to get it treated for and it will be fine.

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

My dog had bad case of fleas ... She was biting the back of her legs and belly ... I gave her advantage treatment (I got it from the vet) and it worked killed all the fleas ... The vet says the hair will grow back ...

I know it looks ugly without the hair ... But eventually it will grow back ... My mama gave me some medicine for dogs which today is no longer found at stores ... It helped the hot spots ... Perhaps you can go to Wal Mart and look at the pet section and look for medicine to smooth hot spots ...

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

its the medicine it happened to my yorkie and my german shepard

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

She may have a flea allergy which causes flea allergy dermatitis. She needs a visit to the vet to get some antibiotics to help the itching stop and you need to keep treating for fleas every 6weeks with an appropriate vet approved flea product.

She's loosing her HAIR!!!?

take her to the pound ! she can't stand the abuse any longer

How do I make my insecure dog feel confident?

I have a four year old male Lab. He must have someone with him at all times. If I leave my home he runs from one end of the house to the other barking and jumping up on the door to see out the window. He will not even go to the bathroom by himself. When I tried putting him out alone, he wouldn't leave the stoop. After a couple of minutes he began running around the house jumping at every window and door trying to get back in. When I first got him I lived in an apartment, and he had to be leashed at all times when out (city requirement). I have since moved into a home with an acre of space for him. He seems comfortable; but still will not go out into the yard alone. He also barks and his hair stands up at anyone that may visit. Relatives included. Even if he has interacted with them before. I'd like to take him for walks and to play in the park; but with his behavior it's just not possible. ANY confidence building ideas are welcomed!

How do I make my insecure dog feel confident?

Set up some rules. A dog in a structured environment helps with their confidence. Keep up with the training also.

The first few times you may want to go for a nice long walk or run with your dog around the property. Go out there yourself and hide treats around the yard. Do that a few times until he isn't so scared of the unknown.

Tell him to down while in the house. When you get up put him in down. When you walk away make sure to keep him in down - till YOU tell him to get up. Don't let him be so clingy.

You let him know when it's affection time - just because he comes to sit next to you doesn't mean you have to pet him. Don't let him on the furniture unless you say so.

You're not neglecting your dog - you're setting bounderies.

When people come into your house have him on a leash. When he gets upset or shows signs of getting up set IMMEDIATELY put him in down and keep him there. That is him submitting.

Patience.

Good Luck

How do I make my insecure dog feel confident?

This may not help too much - but I do know that petting a dog under their chin makes them feel proud and confident. It's at least a little something! Sorry I can't be of more help!

How do I make my insecure dog feel confident?

Don't let him "cry it out".... Like most irresponsible puppy parents do

How do I make my insecure dog feel confident?

This sounds a little like separation anxiety. You may want to contact a trainer, who would be better able to help.

How do I make my insecure dog feel confident?

May I suggest an excellent book by Cesar Melan, the dog whisperer. Your dog has separation anxiety and could use another dog for company. That helped my lab, she is still very submissive, but has someone to take her energy out on. Good Luck!

How do I make my insecure dog feel confident?

If you're willing to make the commitment, maybe you can ask your vet to recommend an obedience training class that's based on positive reinforcement. It worked wonders for our high drive, attention demanding dog, and also helped us to develop a relationship that today is more fun and rewarding than I could have ever imagined.

How do I make my insecure dog feel confident?

kill him

How do I make my insecure dog feel confident?

Does he put his tail between his hind legs? Does he lower his head whenever someone else is near or at any time. Does he show his teeth? If he wags his tail when does he do this? He's a sporting dog do you train him in this capacity? Please answer these questions for me, and maybe we can come to a resolution.

Help, how to properly wash a Dog?

He is about 7 months old.. so he's a big boy now. He is molting a lot... so there is my first clue that Im not bathing him right. Or so a friend told me. to give him a healthy coat, do I need to feed him vitamins? or use some kind of a good brush and shampoo... its cold here in Michigan so I can not wash him outside.... whats the best way in the bathroom... shower head or in a tub or both. what is the best affective way to dry him... he shakes all over... i know this is normal. I heard I should brush him while drying him too... to get rid of any of more loose hair he might have. any feedback is appreciated. thanks!

Help, how to properly wash a Dog?

lol. It's called shedding, not molting. Birds molt, dogs shed. And just because the dog sheds a lot does not mean that it needs a bath. Most dogs shed to get rid of their heavy coat, some dogs shed year round. It really depends on the dogs lifestyle.

I give my dogs baths in the tub with a shower nozzle that comes all the way down and it only runs water when I need it. You can get one at a local store.

Use dog shampoo, not people shampoo. It's more formulated for their fur. To dry him, get a couple of towels and rubs him down really good before you let him out of the bathroom. He wills till be damp, so keep him inside until he drys out. You do not need to brush him while he dries, but it wont hurt either.

Good luck!

Help, how to properly wash a Dog?

Dogs shedding is pretty normal and doesn't usually have to do with you bathing him or not. If you want to do it in your bath tub i suggest getting a hair catcher for your drain first or you might plug up your pipes. I use the shower head with warm water. Make sure it's not too hot though. Get the dog wet, use a good shampoo, and make sure to rinse very well. Dogs coats are much harder to rinse then human hair. Once the dog is bathed then dry it with towels. I use a hair dryer on my dog if it's cold out but she's used to it. It may scare your dog if it's the first time. Also, I like to talk to my dog and tell her what a good dog she is while I'm bathing her trying to reassure her that it's OK.

Help, how to properly wash a Dog?

First brush him good before you bath him. I bath mine inside in the tub. Shower head will work but I have a hose that attaches to the faucet and has like a shower head on the other end. You can buy them at the hardware stores. Make sure you get all the soap out. I use a hair dryer on mine but don't hold it too close and keep it moving so it don't Burn your dog. Also important is use dog shampoo not human type.

Help, how to properly wash a Dog?

There are you wash your own dog, doggy washes. They provide everything you need and clean up the mess. Our local Petco has a you wash area where they provide soap, a blower and towels. Other places provide clippers, toe nail clippers, brushes, etc. Check the yellow pages or google to see if your town has one.

Help, how to properly wash a Dog?

Dogs who live in air conditioned and heated homes tend to shed year around although they do big molts during the change of season. Unless your dog is actually losing hair which could be from anything including stress or poor nutrition, it is quite normal.

The best thing is to have a large enough shower with a handheld shower head and a glass door. That way he can't go through a curtain. Baths are good for soaking but not cleaning.

The fastest way to dry him is with a bunch of dry towels and a blow drier. The towels do a better job of drying than a brush does. When it gets damp, just use a new one. When he is almost dry, you can use a brush just to finish.

Here is a step by step procedure including a list of materials.

Help, how to properly wash a Dog?

It helps to know what breed it is, makes a big difference in products used and frequency of bathing, etc. I'm guessing this is a short haired breed. As far as bathing at home, I use a tub and a hand held shower sprayer. Make sure you use a good quality pet shampoo- oatmeal and aloe will help dry skin and rinse the coat until the water runs clear and then rinse for 5 more minutes. Have several towels ready and dry him as best as possible- I use a a crate at home and put our big guy in there and let him air dry (keep him away from drafts).

To help get rid of the loose hair I suggest a Zoom Groom to use during bathing and a shedding blade to use in between bathing. Our big guy likes to be vaccumed with the hose attachment, which is a big help.

Fish oil supplement can assist with a nice coat, but the most important part of their coat starts with a high quality diet.

Help, how to properly wash a Dog?

Owners of small dogs have an advantage: they can just plop the dog in a sink or laundry tub. But if you can't fit your dog in a sink, use the bathtub, or get in the shower with her and use a detachable nozzle. A portable doggie tub is also an option. While some tubs are made of heavy plastic, others are collapsible and can easily be used outside or in the laundry room or mudroom

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Ok, I have a German Shepherd, Lab, and Chow mix puppy. He has silky hair and it sheds everywhere! It gets on the carpet, bed, and I have dog hair all over my clothes. What can I do?

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

We have this long haired cat that sheds like crazy and we bought this product called the ShedEnder and it works great! You should consider it...

http://www.seenontvnow.com/shedender.htm...

Also to get hair off of clothes roll a piece of packing tape sticky side out in a loop over your hand and "stick" the hair off of yourself. Rubber gloves dampenend work well too. The dollar store and Walmart sell a small rubber lint roller that can be rinsed with water and reused and that works really well for less than a dollar. Also, if its an inside dog, consider having him clipped by a groomer year round if you don't want to buy the ShedEnder...I'll guaruantee it will save you money though if you buy it! It has us...

Good luck!

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Dogs do shed once a year...if its the normal thing then u need not worry..or else take him to a vet..

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

they shed everytime wen its hott like some of these days.....if he sheds TOO MUCH, bring him to the vet

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Get a new dog and don't let that one breed

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Brush him every day, twice if possible. That way you have some control over where all the hair goes.

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

A good way to help your dog cut back on shedding is buy feeding him a good quality diet, I had a shepard cross who shed like crazy, then we switched his food to Science Diet and his shedding was cut in half! It also helped with the pooper scooper duties....

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Daily brushing is the answer and a trip to the vet if the problem is so bad that the brushing doesn't help. There are medications that the vet can provide, or a change of diet that the vet can recommend that will help with this.

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Shave them

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

If your really THAT concerned you could get his hair shaved off. My sister's dog shed alot, and she did that. The dog looked really weird, but there wasn't hair all over. I have also seen some shampoos in petstores that are supposed to prevent shedding...I've never tried them so I don't know if they work. As for the clothes, you can buy one of those sticky rollers that removes pet hair and use it before you leave the house. If it becomes an on-going, serious problem...take him to the vet.

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Dogs "blow" (shed) a puppy coat and usually will shed in the spring from the winter coat and fall also. Brush him regularly, check his food to be sure he is getting the proper nutrition. Carry a lint roller with you.

They have outer coats and undercoats and require a lot of brushing. Make sure you brush from the neck to the tail and back brush from the tail to the neck. This will help get the undercoat also. Good Luck! !!!

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Below. Good luck. Woof, Woof.

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Go to your local pet store and find the Shed N Blade.

Works wonders - we used to have a german shepherd. It removes all the dead hair about ready to fall off. I could get piles off our dog's coat. He liked getting combed too.

Also feed a good quality food - that helps.

Here is what it looks like, get the Large size if your doggie is going to be big. (I don't use that site, pic is there so you know what to shop for when you go to your pet store. )

http://www.mypetshoppe.com/cgi-bin/Comme...

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

well all you can do is comb him weekly like 2-3 times a week or if you have more time every day and give him monthly baths like about maybe 2-4 a month and if you keep that up then hopefully that will work!

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Right now is the beginning of shedding season for all dogs. Puppies will shed for the coming season but they are also shedding to get rid of their puppy (downy-type) fur and getting their adult coats. It is a messy situation and will get a little better, but not go away. The best thing that you can do for your pup is make sure that it is getting the nutrients it needs in its food, and if I were you, I would check with the vet on this. Some pups need additional oils for their coats and vitamins, or the food that would be enriched with those nutrients, and after that, buy a good brush and brushing glove to groom your pet every morning. Take it outside and brush it to get the dead fur out, and obtain better circulation for new hair growth that will be healthy. Bet you pup is a real cutie. Good luck.

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Better food can help with shedding. Brushing will help as well. There are groomers which can use a shampoo that is supposed to help cut down on the shedding as well.

As for shedding once or twice a year... that's a laugh! My lab mix sheds 356 days a year. It can lessen, but it never stops. Keeping your puppy off beds and sofas helps cut down on where the fur lands, so that may be your best bet.

PLUS... huge tip, buy a Dyson vacuum cleaner. It will last with all the fur. I have 2 dogs and a revolving 3rd foster dog, so we know fur balls!

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

Constant brushing of the dog may help...even though it will be a pain. For your clothes...lint brush...cheap and effective. If it bothers you that dog hair is in your bed...do not allow your dog on the bed. Make the bed the one place that he/she is not allowed or keep a larger than your bed sized cover/blanket over your bed until you are ready to go to sleep; replace when you wake up. A good vacuum and vacuuming daily will assist with the carpet. If you think it's bad now...wait for the spring when it starts warming up and he/she starts loosing that winter coat. The hair is one of the many sacrifices of owning a pet...but in the long run that loving companion is definitely worth it.

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

well I would check the food you are giving him and make sure it doesn't have a corn base in the ingredients. Some dogs have allergies to corn

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

The best option is to take him to the groomer once a week for a bath and blow out. It's best to find a groomer that uses the Hydrosurge bather (it's absolutely amazing). I work at a clinic and our groomer does a German Shepard once a week and a few Golden Retrievers once a week and the difference it makes is amazing.

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

vacuum as much as possible or just learn to live with it. I have a Siberian Husky and her hair gets EVERYWHERE! If all fails you can start making some winter sweaters out of the hair. LOL!

My puppy sheds like crazy, what should I do?

***ALL DOGS SHED!!!!****

Do whippets have hair or fur?

I found A whippet mix at a local shelter and i really want her, but my sister has asthma, do you think the dog would affect it?

Do whippets have hair or fur?

whippets have fur. hair will continue to grow while fur gets to a certin length and fall out

Do whippets have hair or fur?

Dogs have a coat of hair.

Do whippets have hair or fur?

Whippets have fur. If you want to know whether or not the dog would affect your sisters asthma why not take a trip to the shelter and visit the dog and see if she has a reaction to it.

Do whippets have hair or fur?

I don't think Bad Bill understands your question!

I also don't know for sure if whippets have hair or fur, but I found two websites that list allergy-friendly breeds, and whippets are not on either list:

http://www.i-love-dogs.com/dogsarticles/...

http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/allergy.htm

This would imply that the whippet would not be a good choice for your sister, but the internet is not always the best source of information. See if your sister's doctor can guide you to a better source of information. BTW whippets are great dogs, but they really love laps and being on the furniture, which could be a real problem for your sister.

Do whippets have hair or fur?

Are whippets hypoallergenic?

Shedding and allergic reactions to dogs are not really related. People who are allergic to dogs are sensitive to the dog's dander, not the fur. All dogs shed except for the hairless breeds. Some breeds are promoted as hypo-allergenic and they do seem to cause fewer problems than other breeds. These dogs usually have dense, curly coats that keep the dander, as well as the fur, on the dog until it's brushed out or clipped. Whippets are not considered hypo-allergenic. Since they have short coats, they don't leave wads of hair around the house, but they definitely shed as much as any other dog. This is usually most noticeable in the spring and fall. If you brush your whippet thoroughly once a week, you'll minimize the amount of fur you find around the house.

I also have asthma I have 3 dogs %26amp; I am fine.

But my friend has it %26amp; he is not.

It affects different people

Any vacuum cleaner experts out there?

If there is such a thing :) So here it is: my vacuums always seem to gradually lose suction. I have gone through so many this year, and it always happens dispite me doing my best to unclog them! Is there some maintenance thing I am missing here? I change filters, take them apart, but they always seem to lose suction, especially in the hose! I have a Labrador dog that sheds alot. Is this dog hair killing the vacuum? Anyone out there that can help me? Thanks! :)

Any vacuum cleaner experts out there?

I have 15 vacuums! Their are many vacuum Collectors, and i am one of them! I think it's the age of your vacuum thats killing it. I have one that i got about 5 years ago that worked grat when i got it. but now it's horrid at it. Sorry

Any vacuum cleaner experts out there?

If you are not using disposable bags in them then maybe you need to wash the bag. Other than that I don't know.

Any vacuum cleaner experts out there?

You need something like a broom handle, something long but not too big to fit in the hose. Unhook the hose and slide the end over the handle until it unclogs whatever is in it. If it's an upright, there's probably a hose that runs underneath to the power brush, it needs to be cleaned out too with something like a long bottle brush or similar item that you can put in the end of the hose. Even if it's getting clogged up, you should be able to clear any kind of clog and get the suction back to normal. I have to clean them out at the hotel where I work. Housekeepers always get them clogged up and bring them to me.

Any vacuum cleaner experts out there?

You need a DYSON!! Got one about 6 months ago and I'm telling you there's nothing like it. You need the one with the

beater bar that gets rid of pet hair without a problem. This

vac is the most awesome cleaner.....it makes cleaning a real breeze.....

Any vacuum cleaner experts out there?

I clean houses and do part time janitorial work. I have used most every brand of vacuum cleaner and I think the best one on the market is the Simplicity. They last a long time and have a good filtering system.

Any vacuum cleaner experts out there?

I just got a Dyson an I love it go to www.dyson.com

is the best vacuum I have use so far in my life..if you try it you would love it.

Any vacuum cleaner experts out there?

I have had my "Dyson" for 5 years now, and it has NOT lost ANY suction, at all. I have a big Retriever dog, who sheds badly too, and my "Dyson" picks up all his hair.
